Troubleshooting the T1600 SIBs

Problem

The following alarms and LEDs indicate a problem with a SIB:

  • A red alarm indicates that the SIB failed or has been removed.
  • A yellow alarm indicates that a spare SIB has failed or has been removed.
  • The yellow FAIL LED on the SIB faceplate is lit.
  • The green OK LED on the SIB faceplate is not lit.

Solution

To troubleshoot the T1600 SIBs:

  1. Check the LEDs on the faceplate of each SIB.
  2. Check the LEDs on the craft interface.
  3. Use the CLI to check for alarms.
    • Standalone T1600 router—Issue the show chassis alarms command to view the alarms.
    • T1600 router in a routing matrix—Issue the show chassis alarms lcc lcc-number command to view the alarms.

In Table 1 and Table 2, the text in the column labeled ”LCD Message” appears in the display of the craft interface. The text in the column labeled “CLI Message” appears in the output from the show chassis alarms command.

A SIB on a backup switching plane has failed.

Replace the SIB.

Spare SIB Removed

Spare SIB Absent

A SIB on a backup switching plane has been removed.

Reinstall the SIB in the chassis.

Check SIB

Check SIB

SIB is not inserted properly, destination errors are detected on the SIB, or link errors are detected on the channel between the SIB and a Packet Forwarding Engine in an FPC.

Check that the SIB is correctly installed.

For destination errors, use the show chassis fabric fpcs command and show chassis fabric sibs command for more details.

ST_SIB_L sib-number:VCSEL Fault

ST_SIB_L sib-number: SIB VCSEL Fault

Loss of signal (LOS) has occurred in a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) in a TXP-T1600 SIB.

Replace the TXP-T1600 SIB on the T1600 router.

SIB sib-number FPC Links

SIB sib-number FPC Link Error

The TXP-T1600 SIB has detected Link errors on FPC-SIB links.

To isolate the problem:

  1. Replace the TXP-T1600 SIB.
  2. If the problem persists, replace each FPC.
  3. If you are unable to isolate the problem, contact JTAC.
