Removing and Installing
a JCS1200 Switch Module

To remove a switch module or module filler (see Figure 1):

  1. Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis.
  2. Pull the release handle to the open position. The module moves out of the bay approximately 0.25 in. (0.6 cm).
  3. Slide the switch module out of the bay.

The JCS1200 platform ships with one switch module. You can install a second switch module for redundancy.

To install a switch module (see Figure 2):

  1. Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis.
  2. Remove the switch module filler, if one is installed (see Removing a JCS1200 Switch Module or Module Filler).
  3. Make sure that the release handle is in the open position.
  4. Slide the switch module into the switch module interposer until it stops.
  5. Push the switch module release handle to the closed position.
  6. Connect the cables to the switch module.
