Installing and Connecting an EX6210 Switch

The EX6210 switch chassis is a rigid sheet-metal structure that houses the other hardware components such as Switch Fabric and Routing Engine (SRE) modules, AC or DC power supplies, a fan tray, and line cards. The switch ships in a cardboard box that has a two-layer wooden pallet base. The switch chassis is bolted to the pallet base.

To unpack an EX6210 switch, follow instructions in Unpacking an EX6200 Switch.

You can install an EX6210 switch in a 19-in. rack or cabinet by using the front-mounting bracket attached to the chassis. To install the switch in a rack or cabinet, follow the instructions in Mounting an EX6210 Switch on a Rack or Cabinet Using a Mechanical Lift or Mounting an EX6210 Switch on a Rack or Cabinet Without Using a Mechanical Lift.

To connect an EX6210 switch to earth ground, follow instructions in Connecting Earth Ground to an EX Series Switch.

To connect power to the switch chassis, follow instructions in Connecting AC Power to an EX6200 Switch or Connecting DC Power to an EX6200 Switch.

To connect and configure the switch, follow instructions in Connecting and Configuring an EX Series Switch (CLI Procedure).


To connect the switch to a network for out-of-band management, follow instructions in Connecting an EX Series Switch to a Network for Out-of-Band Management. To connect the switch to a management console, follow instructions in Connecting an EX Series Switch to a Management Console.
