Overview of Installing a T1600 Router Without a Mechanical Lift

If you cannot use a mechanical lift to install the T1600 router (the preferred method), you can install it manually.

1. Read the safety information. To avoid harm to yourself or the router as you install and maintain it, follow the guidelines for working with and near electrical equipment, as well as the safety procedures for working with routers. However, providing an exhaustive set of guidelines for working with electrical equipment is beyond the scope of this documentation.

2. Verify that the site has been prepared for the router installation.

   See T1600 Site Preparation Requirements Checklist .

3. Verify that the mounting hardware has been installed as described in Installing the T1600 Mounting Hardware for an Open-Frame Rack or Installing the T1600 Mounting Hardware for a Four-Post Rack or Cabinet .
4. Remove the router from the shipping crate as described in Unpacking the T1600 Router.
5. Gather the tools required to install the router.

6. Remove components from the chassis to make it easier to install into the rack or chassis.

   See Removing Components from the T1600 Chassis.

7. Install the T1600 Chassis in the Rack Manually. At least four people are needed to safely lift the chassis into the rack or cabinet. With components removed, the chassis weighs approximately 225 lb (102 kg).

8. Reinstall the components removed from the chassis.
