Installing the M320 Cable Guards

After the chassis is installed in the rack or cabinet, you can install the four cable guards. The cable guards protect the PIC and CIP cables from rubbing against the front edges of the chassis.

To install the cable guards (see Figure 1):

  1. Place one of the upper cable guards over one of the front-mounting flanges of the chassis, aligning the top of the cable guard with the top of the flange. Each of the three captive screws on the guard should be aligned with a corresponding standoff on the flange.
  2. Tighten each of the three captive screws partway on the cable guard.
  3. Tighten each of the three captive screws completely.
  4. Repeat Steps 1 through 3 for the other upper cable guard.
  5. Place one of the lower cable guards over one of the front-mounting flanges of the chassis, aligning the cable guard with the standoffs on the flange. Each of the two captive screws on the guard should be aligned with a corresponding hole in the flange.
  6. Tighten each of the two captive screws partway on the cable guard.
  7. Tighten each of the two captive screws completely.
  8. Repeat Steps 5 through 7 for the other lower cable guard.
