Replacing a JCS1200 Chassis
To replace a chassis, you
must remove components from the old chassis and install them in the
new chassis.
Removing Components from a JCS1200 Chassis
To remove components from a JCS1200 chassis:
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap
to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to one of the ESD points
on the chassis.
- Power off any Routing Engines in the JCS1200 platform
(see Powering Off a JCS1200 Routing Engine).
- Disconnect the power from the platform (see Disconnecting Power from the JCS1200 Platform).
- Remove the following components from the front
of the platform:
- Disengage the following components from
the midplane using the procedure indicated:

Make sure each component is pulled out of the JCS1200 platform
at least 1 in. (2.54 cm). |
- Remove the fan shuttle from the platform
(see Removing a JCS1200 Fan Shuttle).
- Remove the upper and lower power boxes from the
rear of the chassis (see Removing a JCS1200 Power Box).
- If you are instructed to return the chassis, follow all
packaging instructions and use any packaging materials for shipping
that are supplied to you.
Installing Components in a Replacement JCS1200 Chassis
To install components in a replacement JCS1200 chassis:
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap
to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to one of the ESD points
on the chassis.
- Install the upper and lower power boxes into the chassis
(see Installing a JCS1200 Power Box).
- Install the fan shuttle into the chassis (see Installing a JCS1200 Fan Shuttle).
- Push the following components fully into the front
of the platform to reengage the midplane:
- Slide each power module or filler into the
bay; then push the release handle to the closed position (see Installing a JCS1200 Power Module).
- Reconnect the power to the platform (see Connecting the JCS1200 AC Platform to AC Power or Connecting the JCS1200 DC Platform to DC Power).
- Restart any Routing Engines that were powered off
in the platform (see Powering On a JCS1200 Routing Engine).
