Connecting the TX Matrix Plus Router to a Management Console
or Auxiliary Device
Attach one or more management console or auxiliary devices
to the Routing Engine ports on each TXP-CB for management and service
operations (see Figure 1).
To connect the cables for a management console or auxiliary
device:
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap
to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to one of the ESD points
on the chassis.
 | Caution:
During the initial installation before the chassis
is grounded, you must connect to an approved site ESD point. See the
instructions for your site. |
- If necessary, turn off the power to the console or auxiliary
device.
- Plug one end (shown in Figure 2) of a serial cable
into the CONSOLE or AUXILIARY port on the TXP-CB
in slot CB0. This port connects to the Routing Engine installed
into the TXP-CB in slot CB0.
- Attach the other end of the cable to the console or auxiliary
device.
- Plug one end of another serial cable into the CONSOLE or AUXILIARY port on CB1. This port connects to
the Routing Engine installed into the TXP-CB in slot CB1.
- Attach the other end of the cable to the console or auxiliary
device.
 | For console devices, configure the serial port to the
following values: - Baud rate—9600
- Parity—N
- Data bits—8
