Connecting AC Power to an XRE200 External Routing Engine

After you have installed an AC power supply in an XRE200 External Routing Engine, you connect the external Routing Engine to AC power.

Before you begin connecting AC power to an XRE200 External Routing Engine:

  • Install the power supply in the chassis. See Installing an AC or DC Power Supply in an XRE200 External Routing Engine.

Note: Each power supply must be connected to a dedicated power source outlet to ensure power supply redundancy.

Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available:

  • Power cords appropriate for your geographical location

Caution: Mixing different types of power supplies in the same external Routing Engine is not a supported configuration.

To connect AC power to an external Routing Engine:

  1. Ensure that the power supplies are fully inserted in the external Routing Engine.
  2. Insert the coupler end of the power cord into the AC power cord inlet on the AC power supply faceplate.
  3. If the AC power source outlet has a power switch, set it to the OFF (0) position.
  4. Insert the power cord plug into an AC power source outlet.
  5. If the AC power source outlet has a power switch, set it to the ON (|) position.
  6. Verify that the Power LED on the power supply is lit and is on steadily.
  7. Repeat steps 2 through 6 for the second power supply.
