Connecting the JCS1200 AC Platform to AC Power

The JCS1200 platform has four AC power C20 input connectors. The appliance coupler at the female end of the detachable AC power cord inserts into the AC power input connector. The coupler is type C20 (right angle) as described by International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard 60320. The plug at the male end of the power cord fits into the power source receptacle that is standard for your geographical location. Use the AC power cords to connect AC power to the JCS1200 platform.

To supply power to the JCS1200 platform:

  1. Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis.
  2. Connect one end of each power cord to a power connector on the rear of the JCS1200 platform.
  3. Connect the other end of each power cord to a 200-240 volt, 20-amp power distribution unit or appropriate electrical outlet. An external surge protective device (SPD) is required at the AC power input of the JCS1200 platform.

The Routing Engines in the JCS1200 platform are connected to power but are not turned on. After the JCS1200 platform has power, depending on the configuration settings, the Routing Engines might have to be individually turned on.
