JCS1200 Hardware Component Installation Checklist
Before you can use the JCS1200 platform,
you must install and configure the required components in the platform.
If you have not already done so, perform the activities on the following
checklist:
- Set up the rack or cabinet in which you will install
the JCS1200 platform. See JCS1200 Platform Rack-Mounting Hardware.
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap
to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to one of the ESD points
on the chassis.
- Remove any modules that come installed in
the platform to reduce the weight of the unit.
- Install the platform into the rack. See Installing the JCS1200 Platform Using a Lift.
- Reinstall the removed modules in the platform.

Make sure that the JCS1200 platform has adequate power
to support all of the installed components. The platform must contain
either two or four power modules. See JCS1200 Platform Power Overview
for more information. |
- Install the required platform components.
- Supply power to the platform. See Connecting the JCS1200 AC Platform to AC Power or Connecting the JCS1200 DC Platform to DC Power for more information.
- Make sure that the latest level of firmware is
installed on all of the components. See http://www.juniper.net/support/ for additional information.
- Configure the management module in the platform.

. - Determine the platform configuration settings,
such as the IP address, network address, and wake-on-LAN settings. For
instructions for configuring an IP address, see the Junos OS Protected System Domain Configuration Guide.
- Configure the switch modules in the platform. For configuration information,
see the Junos OS Protected System Domain Configuration Guide
. - Configure the Routing Engines. For information
