The JCS1200 platform is configured with four hot-swappable power modules.

Power modules are required in bays 1 and 2. They supply power to Routing Engine bays 1 through 6, media trays 1 and 2, management module bays 1 and 2, and switch module bays 1 through 4.

Power modules are required in power module bays 3 and 4 if you install Routing Engines in Routing Engine bays 7 through 12 or if you install switch modules in any of switch module bays 7 through 10.

Each pair of power modules operates as a redundant pair. If either power module fails, the remaining power module continues to supply power, but there is no redundancy; the failed power module must be replaced as soon as possible.
