Field-replaceable units (FRUs) are router components that can be replaced at the customer site. Replacing most FRUs requires minimal router downtime. The router uses the following types of FRUs:

However, it is not necessary to halt the host subsystem to insert or remove a PC card. You must power off the Routing Engine before replacing a CompactFlash card or solid-state disk in a Routing Engine. |
