T640 Chassis Description
The T640 Core Router chassis is a rigid sheet metal structure that houses all the other router components (see Figure 1 and Figure 2). The chassis measures 37.45 in. (95.1 cm) high, 31 in. (78.7 cm) deep, and 17.43 in. (44.3 cm) wide. For physical specifications, seeT640 Router Specifications. The chassis can be installed into many types of racks or cabinets. The chassis includes the following features (see Figure 1 and Figure 2):
- One pair of metal flanges for front-mounting or mounting in a four-post rack or cabinet.
- One pair of metal brackets for center-mounting.
- Installation handles on each side to facilitate positioning the router in the rack. Do not use the handles to lift the router.
- Two electrostatic discharge (ESD) points (banana plug
receptacles), one front and one rear.
Caution: Before removing or installing components of a router, attach an ESD strap to an ESD point and place the other end of the strap around your bare wrist. Failure to use an ESD strap could result in damage to the router.
Warning: The router must be connected to earth ground during normal operation.
