JUNOS® Software - High Availability Configuration, Release 11.2

The Junos OS provides various hardware and software features, collectively known as high availability features, that provide redundancy and reliability for packet-based communications. The Junos OS high availability features provide a high level of fault tolerance and reduce network downtime and traffic interruption. Routing Engine redundancy, graceful Routing Engine switchover, graceful restart, nonstop active routing, nonstop bridging, unified ISSU, Virtual Chassis (only on MX Series 3D Universal Edge routers), and VRRP are examples of high availability features supported by the Junos OS.
