dynamic-flow-capture option added in Junos OS Release 7.4.

dlsw option added in Junos OS Release 7.5.

link-management option added in Release 8.0.

Description

Restart a Junos OS process.

Caution: Never restart a software process unless instructed to do so by a customer support engineer. A restart might cause the router or switch to drop calls and interrupt transmission, resulting in possible loss of data.

(Optional) Restart the configuration management process that manages the configuration for stateful firewall, Network Address Translation (NAT), intrusion detection services (IDS), and IP Security (IPsec) services on the Adaptive Services PIC.

all-chassis
—

(TX Matrix and TX Matrix Plus routers only) (Optional) Restart the software process on all chassis.

all-lcc
—

(TX Matrix and TX Matrix Plus routers only) (Optional) For a TX Matrix router, restart the software process on all T640 routers connected to the TX Matrix router. For a TX Matrix Plus router, restart the software process on all T1600 routers connected to the TX Matrix Plus router.

all-sfc
—

(TX Matrix Plus routers only) (Optional) For a TX Matrix Plus router, restart the software processes for the TX Matrix Plus router (or switch-fabric chassis).

(Optional) Restart the RADIUS accounting process.

(Optional) Restart the process that implements the Pragmatic General Multicast (PGM) protocol for assisting in the reliable delivery of multicast packets.

pic-services-logging

(Optional) Restart the logging process for some PICs. With this process, also known as fsad (the file system access daemon), PICs send special logging information to the Routing Engine for archiving on the hard disk.

—

(Optional) Restart the pgcpd process for a specific BGF running on an MS-PIC. This option does not restart the pgcpd process running on the Routing Engine. To restart the pgcpd process on the Routing Engine, use the pgcp-service option.

sflow-service
—

(EX Series switch only) (Optional) Restart the flow sampling (sFlow technology) process.

snmp
—

(Optional) Restart the SNMP process, which provides the router's or switch’s SNMP master agent.

soft
—

(Optional) Reread and reactivate the configuration without completely restarting the software processes. For example, BGP peers stay up and the routing table stays constant. Omitting this option results in a graceful restart of the software process.

usb-control
—

(J Series router only) (Optional) Restart the USB control process.

vrrp
—

(EX Series switch only) (Optional) Restart the Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol process.

web-management
—

(J Series router and EX Series switch only) (Optional) Restart the Web management process.
