EX2200-C switches provide two console ports: an RJ-45 console port that accepts a cable with an RJ-45 connector and a Mini USB Type-B console port that accepts a cable with a Mini-B plug (5-pin) connector. You can choose to use either connection, but only one connection can be active at a time.
By default, the RJ-45 console port is the active port and the Mini USB Type-B console port is the passive. That is, to make a connection on the RJ-45 console port you need not configure it as the active port while to make a connection to the Mini USB Type-B console port, you must first explicitly configure this port as the active port. You can make either port the active port by using the port-typ configuration statement. If you connect to a passive port, you will lose the early boot messages and once the switch has booted, a login prompt will be displayed at the connected console port.
To configure the RJ-45 or the Mini-USB Type-B console port as an active console port:
