Net-Worm.Win32.Bozori.a

Kaspersky Lab has detected a worm which spreads via the Microsoft Windows Plug and Play vulnerability. Information about this vulnerability is contained in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS05-039. The worm is classified as Net-Worm.Win32.Bozori.a by Kaspersky Lab. Some antivirus companies have named this worm W32.Zotob.E.

The Virus Laboratory has not detected any significant epidemic caused by this worm, although many media bodies are reporting infections in the networks of major companies and bodies such as ABC, the New York Times and Capitol Hill.

The worm does not currently pose a serious threat to Internet users. However, all users are once again reminded to download the latest patches from the Microsoft site to protect their machines.

An urgent update to antivirus databases was issued on 17th August 2005 at 1.50am Moscow time (GMT +4)
