Title: HP HTTP Server Trusted Certificate Compromise Vulnerability
Severity: CRITICAL
Description:
The HP HTTP Server is a component of HP Web-Enabled Management Software (Compaq Web Management).
A vulnerability has been reported in the HTTP Server component (which runs on TCP port 2381) that may allow a remote user to compromise the Web-Enabled Management Software. Reportedly, an anonymous remote attacker can send a client certificate to the server that will authenticate them against the server. This is possible due to a bug in the validation mechanism. As a result, an attacker could compromise the underlying host via the administration interface.
This vulnerability may only be exploited if the Anonymous Access option is enabled for the software. This option is reportedly not enabled by default but is reportedly a common configuration
This vulnerability is reported to exist on HP HTTP Server versions 5.0 through 5.92.
Affected Products:
- Compaq Web-Based Management Agent 0.0.0
- HP HTTP Server 5.0.0
- HP HTTP Server 5.92.0
- HP Web-Enabled Management Software 0.0.0
