Title: Seattle Lab Software SLMail Pro Remote Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Description:

SLMail Pro is an email server with support for virus protection and spam email monitoring. It is commercially available for the Microsoft Windows platform.

A vulnerability has been discovered in the SLMail mail server that would allow an attacker to overflow a stack based buffer with a malicious HTTP request.

This issue is due to a failure of the server to properly perform boundary checks on the user supplied HTTP version string within an HTTP request. An attacker may leverage this issue by supplying and excessively long HTTP version, upon storing the malicious version string into the stack based buffer, sensitive regions of memory may be corrupted with attacker-supplied values.

It may be possible for attackers to leverage this vulnerability to execute instructions of their design. Any code executed would be in the security context of the vulnerable mail server process.
