Title: DeskSoft CheckMail Password Disclosure Vulnerability

Description:

DeskSoft CheckMail is a POP3 e-mail program allowing management of multiple accounts. It is available for Microsoft Windows operating systems.

A vulnerability has been reported in the software that may allow local users to access e-mail account passwords. It has been reported that the software stores user authentication credentials in the Windows registry. A local user may access the Registry in order to gain access to the authentication data.

User e-mail credentials are stored in the following Windows registry key:

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-823518204-436374069-1708537768-1004\Software\DeskSoft\CheckMail

This could allow an attacker to gain access to e-mail accounts, which could expose other types of sensitive information.
