Title: Metamail Multiple Vulnerabilities
Severity: HIGH
Description:
A vulnerability (CVE-1999-1263) in Metamail may permit files to be overwritten by remote attackers. This may occur when an attacker-supplied path is processed by uuencode in various Metamail scripts.
Metamail is prone to a remote command execution vulnerability (CVE-1999-0365). This is due to insufficient sanitization of shell metacharacters from input that is passed to Metamail scripts. This may allow remote attackers to execute shell commands with the privileges of the software.
Multiple buffer overflows are reported to exist in Metamail (CVE-1999-0037). These vulnerabilities will permit remote attackers to cause sensitive regions of memory to be corrupted with attacker-supplied data. Exploitation could permit a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of Metamail.
Exploitation of all the reported vulnerabilities may occur when Metamail handles malicious e-mail.
