Title: Oracle Applications FNDWRR CGI Remote Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: CRITICAL

Description:

A problem in the handling of data by the Oracle Applications FNDWRR CGI program has been reported. This may result in a remote attacker gaining unauthorized access to a system using the vulnerable application.

The FNDWRR CGI program is packaged with the Oracle Applications software package. It is also a component of the Oracle E-Business Suite software package.

The problem is in the checking of bounds on user-supplied input by the FNDWRR program. Due to improper bounds checking, it is possible for a remote user to corrupt sensitive process memory. By exploiting this, an attacker could remotely execute arbitrary instructions with the privileges of the FNDWRR program, which usually inherits the privileges of the web server process.

Affected Products:

  • Oracle Applications 10.7.0
  • Oracle Applications 11.0.0
  • Oracle E-Business Suite 11i 11.1.0

  • Oracle E-Business Suite 11i 11.6.0
  • Oracle E-Business Suite 11i 11.7.0
