Title: Sun Solaris Full UFS File System Kernel Panic Denial Of Service Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
Solaris is the Unix variant operating system distributed and maintained by Sun Microsystems.
A problem in the UFS file system may result in reliability issues.
It has been reported that Solaris becomes unstable when specific circumstances are created in the UFS file system. This may allow an attacker to deny service to legitimate users of a vulnerable system.
The problem is in the handling of full UFS file systems and exhausted user quotas. When either circumstance is created, the system may encounter a kernel panic. This would result unavailability of the host until the system is restarted.
