Title: Ability Mail Server Plaintext Password Storage Weakness
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
Code-Crafters Ability Mail Server is a lightweight mail server designed to run on Microsoft windows platforms.
Ability Mail Server stores usernames and associated passwords using plaintext format, in the 'accounts.dta' file. As a result, these credentials could be exposed to other local users who have the permissions to access and read that file.
It should be noted that although this issue has been reported to affect Ability Mail Server 1.09, other versions are likely to be affected.
Affected Products:
- Code-Crafters Ability Mail Server 1.0.9
