Title: Tridion R5 Plaintext Passwords Information Disclosure Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Tridion R5 is an enterprise level Content Manager. It provides an enterprise platform that enables large organizations to create, manage, distribute and deliver business critical content across multiple websites, portals, e-applications and paper based publications.

Tridion R5 has been reported prone to an information disclosure vulnerability.

It has been reported that Tridion R5 may store sensitive information embedded in certain XML configuration files that are stored on the system. Specifically both 'cm_config.xml' and 'cd_trs_config.xml' files located in the '\Tridion' directory store 'sa', 'TCMLogDBUser', 'TCMDBUser' and 'srvMTSUser' authentication credentials. It has also been reported that the file 'cm_cnfg_git.xml' located in the '\Tridion\bin' folder contains authentication credentials for the 'TCMDBUser' and 'TCMLogDBUser' users. If an attacker has local access and sufficient privileges to view these XML files, plaintext administration credentials may be revealed.

It should be noted that, although this vulnerability was reported to affect Tridion R5 SP2, previous versions might also be affected.

Affected Products:

  • Tridion Tridion R5 0.0.0SP2
