Title: Cisco Secure ACS Management Interface Login Field Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: CRITICAL

Description:

Cisco Secure ACS is an authentication, authorization, and accounting software package distributed by Cisco Systems. It is available for the Microsoft Windows operating systems.

It has been reported that some versions of the Cisco Secure ACS software do not properly handle input supplied during authentication. Because of this, it may be possible for a remote attacker to gain unauthorized access to a host using the vulnerable software.

The problem is a boundary condition error in the authentication sequence of the management interface. By default, the software includes a web-based management interface that runs on TCP port 2002. When a user parameter of excessive length is supplied to the management interface, the boundary condition error occurs when 'CSAdmin.exe' handles the request from 'login.exe'. This problem is likely a stack-based overflow that can be exploited by a remote attacker to gain the privileges of the CSAdmin process on the vulnerable host. The CSAdmin process typically runs as Local System.

It should be noted that this issue affects only Cisco Secure ACS versions for Microsoft Windows. This problem has been reported as not affecting Cisco Secure ACS implementations on the UNIX platform.
