A vulnerabilty has been discovered in the Windows NT DNS resolver code. It has been reported that a remote user may be able to trigger a buffer overflow condition in an application linking to the code. This condition likely occurs due to insufficient sanity checking of user-supplied data.
By exploiting this issue to overwrite sensitive locations in memory, it may be possible to execute arbitrary commands with the privileges of application implementing the vulnerable code.
