Title: Sun Solaris 8 PAM Session Evasion Vulnerability
Severity: LOW
Description:
Under some conditions, it may be possible for users of Solaris 8 to evade PAM session restrictions.
Reportedly, the pam_open_session() function call may fail if either of the variables PAM_RHOST or PAM_TTY are NULL. Under these conditions, the function call will exit with a segmentation fault.
An attacker able to cause this condition may be able to authenticate through PAM while avoiding any restrictions imposed by the PAM session, such as resource limits on processes.
Affected Products:
- Sun Solaris 8
- Sun Solaris 8_x86
