Title: Sun i-Runbook Directory And File Content Disclosure Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Sun i-Runbook is a single point of technical and administration management for Sun production environments. i-Runbook provides a web interface.

An issue has been discovered which could allow remote unauthorized users read access to known directories and files residing on a host.

This is reportedly possible by submitting a specially crafted request for a known resource by way of the none.php script. The none.php script is used to view files from the build snapshot.

Appending a '?' to none.php will cause the host to disclose the contents of the requested resource. For example:

http://target/base/build/explorer/non.php?/path_to_directory/file

It has also been reported that including '..:' character sequences after the '?' will disclose the specified resource through a directory traversal attack. For example:

http://target/base/build/explorer/non.php?..:..:..:..:..:..:..:path_to_directory/file

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to the disclosure of sensitive information, which may be used in further attacks against the host.

Affected Products:

  • Sun i-Runbook 2.5.2
