Title: Cabletron Spectrum Enterprise Manager 5.0 Directory Permissions Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
During the installation process Cabletron Spectrum Enterprise Manager creates a directory tree that is largely writable for most users. This tree includes the executables for the install process, one of which (processd) must be run as root. This creates a temporary situation where a hostile local user could replace or alter that executable with code of their own choosing. After the installation is completed, no components need to be run as root, but the executables are still writeable, allowing the possibility of a Trojan Horse or Denial of Service attack.
Affected Products:
- Cabletron Spectrum Enterprise Manager 5.0.0
