Title: memcached Memory Consumption Remote Denial of Service Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
memcached is a database-caching application available for multiple operating systems.
memcached is prone to a remote denial-of-service vulnerability. Specifically when a large amount of data without a terminating '\n' is provided, the application allocates a large amount of memory.
An attacker can exploit this issue to cause the application to allocate large amount of memory, hanging or crashing the application.
memcached versions prior to 1.4.3 are affected.
Affected Products:
- Memcached memcached 1.4.2
