Title: ZABBIX 'node_process_command()' Remote Command Execution Vulnerability

Severity: CRITICAL

Description:

ZABBIX is an IT monitoring system available for multiple operating platforms.

ZABBIX is prone to a vulnerability that attackers can leverage to execute arbitrary commands. This issue affects the 'node_process_command()' function in the 'trapper/nodecommand.c' source code file, and occurs because the application fails to properly validate connections containing 'Command' data before executing user-specified shell commands.

Successful attacks can compromise the affected software and possibly the computer.

Versions prior to ZABBIX 1.6.8 are vulnerable.

Affected Products:

  • RedHat Fedora 11
  • RedHat Fedora 12
  • ZABBIX ZABBIX 1.6.2
  • ZABBIX ZABBIX 1.6.3
  • ZABBIX ZABBIX 1.6.5
  • ZABBIX ZABBIX 1.6.6
  • ZABBIX ZABBIX 1.6.7
