Title: BugZilla LDAP Authentication Bypass Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Bugzilla is the bug tracking software package by the Mozilla project. It can be configured to run on Microsoft Windows and various Unix/Linux platforms.

A problem in the Bugzilla's implementation of LDAP makes it possible for an attacker to log in as any user. This is only an issue if Bugzilla is configured to use LDAP authentication.

When a user authenticates via LDAP, Bugzilla will attempt to bind to the LDAP server. However, Bugzilla's implementation of LDAP does not properly account for NULL passwords. The normal and expected behavior is that a NULL password will result in a failed login. Use of a NULL password in this case will be treated as an anonymous bind to the LDAP server, allowing the attacker to bypass authentication.

This occurs even when there is a valid password for the account the attacker is attempting to log in under.
