Title: RhinoSoft Serv-U FTP Server TEA Decoder Remote Stack Buffer Overflow Vulnerability
Severity: CRITICAL
Description:
RhinoSoft Serv-U is an FTP server for Microsoft Windows platforms.
The application is prone to a remote stack-based buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied data. Specifically, this issue can be triggered when an unspecified function processes an overly long hexadecimal string using a TEA decoding algorithm.
Attackers can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code within the context of the affected application. Failed exploit attempts will result in a denial-of-service condition.
Serv-U 9.0.0.5 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
Affected Products:
- RhinoSoft Serv-U 9.0.0.1
- RhinoSoft Serv-U 9.0.0.5
