Title: Apple Safari CSS Denial of Service Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
Apple Safari is a web browser available for Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows.
Safari is prone to a denial-of-service vulnerability because it fails to handle exceptional conditions. The issue can be triggered with specially crafted CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) styles containing an overly long URI in the 'background' property. Opening the malicious content will cause the browser to exhaust stack memory, resulting in a 'stack overflow' exception.
An attacker can exploit this issue to crash the affected application, denying service to legitimate users.
Safari 4.0.3 for Windows is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
Affected Products:
