Title: Pidgin OSCAR Plugin Invalid Memory Access Denial Of Service Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Pidgin is a multiplatform instant-messaging application.

Pidgin is prone to a denial-of-service vulnerability because of 'invalid memory access' errors in the OSCAR plugin protocol when processing malformed messages. The issue occurs in the 'libpurple/protocols/oscar/oscar.c' source file. The issue can be triggered when a SIM IM client sends contacts to a libpurple-based client.

Attackers can exploit this issue to cause denial-of-service conditions. Given the nature of these issues, attackers may also be able to run arbitrary code, but this has not been confirmed.

Versions prior to Pidgin 2.6.3 are vulnerable.
