Title: Microsoft Windows LSASS NTLM Implementation Remote Denial of Service Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Microsoft Windows Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS) is a security mechanism that handles local security and login policies.

LSASS is prone to a remote denial-of-service vulnerability caused by an integer-underflow issue that occurs because the Windows Challenge/Response (NTLM) implementation in LSASS fails to properly handle specially crafted network packets.

A remote attacker can exploit this issue by constructing and submitting an anonymous NTLM authentication request.

When processing the request, the affected computer will crash and restart, denying service to legitimate users.
