Title: Debian and Ubuntu Postfix Insecure Temporary File Creation Vulnerability

Severity: LOW

Description:

Postfix is an open-source Mail Transfer Agent (MTA).

Postfix creates '/var/spool/postfix/pid' in an insecure manner. An attacker with local access could potentially exploit this issue to perform symbolic-link attacks, overwriting arbitrary files in the context of the affected application.

Successfully mounting a symlink attack may allow the attacker to delete or corrupt sensitive files, which may result in a denial of service. Other attacks may also be possible.

This issue affects the following:

Postfix 2.5.5 on Debian 4.0 (and later)
Postfix 2.5.5 on Ubuntu 6.06 LTS (and later)

Other versions may also be affected.
