Title: VMware Studio Virtual Appliance Web Interface File Upload Directory Traversal Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
VMware Studio is an application that allows users to create, configure, and deploy VMware virtual applications and appliances. Virtual appliances created with VMware Studio contain an in-guest management agent with a web console.
The application is prone to a directory-traversal vulnerability because it fails to sufficiently sanitize user-supplied input. Specifically, the application allows an attacker to use directory-traversal sequences in an HTTP request and upload files to the web interface of a virtual appliance that has been created with VMware Studio.
Uploading and overwriting files on the virtual appliance may allow the attacker to launch other attacks.
This issue affects VMware Studio 2.0 beta.
Affected Products:
- VMWare Studio 2.0 beta
