Title: Microsoft Publisher Object Handler Data Pointer Dereference Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
Microsoft Publisher is a desktop publishing application available for Microsoft Windows.
Publisher is prone to a remote code-execution vulnerability caused by an error when the application parses malicious Publisher files. This issue affects the 'PUBCONV.DLL' module. Specifically, the application's memory becomes corrupted when handling maliciously constructed object handler data within a legacy Publisher file. This can cause the application to use an attacker-specified value as a reference into a table of function pointers.
Successful exploits would allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of the currently logged-in user.
Affected Products:
- Microsoft Publisher 2007
- Microsoft Publisher 2007 SP1
