Title: wxWidgets 'wxImage::Create()' Integer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

wxWidgets is a library and API for creating GUI applications on multiple platforms.

The library is prone to an integer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to ensure that integer values are not overrun. This issue occurs in the 'wxImage::Create()' function of the 'src/common/image.cpp' source file.

An attacker may exploit this issue by enticing victims into opening maliciously crafted JPEG Files, triggering a heap-based buffer overflow.

Successful exploits will allow attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context in the context of applications that use the affected library. Failed exploit attempts will likely result in denial-of-service conditions.

wxWidgets 2.8.10 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.

Affected Products:

  • Pardus Linux 2008
  • RedHat Fedora 10
  • RedHat Fedora 11
  • wxWidgets wxWidgets 2.8.10
