Title: Trillian MSN Authentication SSL Certificate Validation Security Bypass Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
Trillian is a chat client available for multiple operating systems.
The application is prone to a security-bypass vulnerability that occurs because it fails to properly validate SSL certificates when connecting to an MSN server.
Successfully exploiting this issue allows attackers to perform man-in-the-middle attacks or impersonate trusted servers, which will aid in further attacks.
To exploit this issue, an attacker must be able to intercept network traffic between the client and a legitimate server that the vulnerable application connects to.
Trillian 3.1 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
Affected Products:
- Cerulean Studios Trillian 3.1.0
