Title: Adobe Shockwave Player Director File Parsing Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Adobe Shockwave Player is a multimedia player available for multiple platforms.

Shockwave Player is prone to a remote code-execution vulnerability that is caused by a backwards-compatibility issue with Shockwave Player 10 content. Specifically, a memory-dereferencing error may overwrite an unspecified 4-byte pointer when the application parses a malicious Adobe Director file.

Attackers can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code in the context of the currently logged-in user. Failed exploit attempts may cause a denial-of-service condition.

Versions prior to Shockwave Player 11.5.0.600 for Microsoft Windows are vulnerable.

Affected Products:

  • Adobe Shockwave Player 11.5.0.596
