Title: Microsoft Active Directory Encoded LDAP String Memory Corruption Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
Severity: CRITICAL
Description:
Microsoft Active Directory is an LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) implementation distributed with multiple Windows operating systems.
Active Directory is prone to a remote code-execution vulnerability because the software fails to properly free memory when handling specially crafted LDAP or LDAPS requests. Specifically, this issue is triggered when the vulnerable application processes LDAP or LDAPS requests that include hexadecimal encoded DN (Distinguished Name) 'AttributeValue' strings.
Attackers can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application. Successful exploits will completely compromise the affected computer. Failed attacks will cause denial-of-service conditions.
