Title: SafeNet SoftRemote IKE Service Remote Stack Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: CRITICAL

Description:

SafeNet SoftRemote is a remote-access client available for Microsoft Windows.

The application is prone to a remote stack-based buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied data before copying it into an insufficiently sized memory buffer. Specifically, the issue resides in the IKE VPN service ('ireIke.exe') when handling an excessively long request. The services runs on UDP port 62514 by default.

An attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM-level privileges. Successfully exploiting this issue will result in the complete compromise of affected computers. Failed exploit attempts will result in a denial-of-service condition.

Versions prior to SoftRemote 10.8.6 are vulnerable.

Affected Products:

  • SafeNet SoftRemote
