Title: Microsoft ISA Server Denial of Service Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server is an Enterprise level proxy server and firewall product.
It has been reported that sending a flood of fragmented UDP packets to an ISA server could result in a denial of service condition. When a flood of fragmented UDP packets is directed at the ISA server, it causes CPU utilization to reach 100%, causing the rate of packet processing to drop significantly.
Microsoft has responded that this is simply a resource starvation condition in the underlying hardware of the system and not a problem with ISA server itself.
This type of fragmented UDP packet flood could affect any software and is not a vulnerability in Microsoft ISA server or the underlying operating system.
Affected Products:
- Microsoft ISA Server 2000 0.0.0
- Microsoft Small Business Server 2000 0.0.0
- Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 Premium Edition 0.0.0
