Title: Matt Wright FormMail HTTP Response Splitting and Cross Site Scripting Vulnerabilities
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
FormMail is a widely used web-based email gateway; it allows form-based input to be emailed to a specified user. It is written in Perl and will run on most Linux and Unix variants as well as Microsoft Windows.
The application is prone to these input-validation vulnerabilities:
1. Cross-site scripting vulnerabilities affect the 'request' and 'return_link_url' parameters in the 'FormMail.pl' script.
2. An HTTP-response-splitting vulnerability affects the 'request' parameter of the 'FormMail.pl' script.
An attacker may leverage these issues to execute arbitrary script code in the browser of an unsuspecting user, steal cookie-based authentication credentials, and influence how web content is served, cached, or interpreted. This could aid in various attacks that try to entice client users into a false sense of trust.
These issues affect FormMail 1.92; prior versions may also be affected.
Affected Products:
- Matt Wright FormMail 1.92.0
