Description:

OpenVMS is a mainframe-like operating system originally distributed by DEC, and maintained by Compaq.

A problem has been discovered in the operating system. The problem could lead to a local user gaining access to privileged information.

DECWindows Motif Server contains a vulnerability that makes it possible for a local user to gain unauthorized access to information or system resources on a vulnerable machine. The problem is local, and therefore may only be exploited from an existing users account.

This vulnerability affects only those OpenVMS systems with DECWindows Motif Server installed.
