The application is prone to an authentication-bypass vulnerability because it fails to adequately verify user-supplied input used for cookie-based authentication. Specifically, attackers can gain administrative access to the application by setting the 'WBNEWS' cookie parameter to '1' and the 'path' parameter to '/'.
Successful exploits may aid in further attacks.
WB News 2.1.2 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
