HP-UX is a UNIX implementation distributed by Hewlett-Packard. It is a scalable, reliable, System V based implementation.
A problem with HP-UX has been discovered that could allow local users to gain elevated privileges. This could result in a non-privileged user gaining administrative access.
The problem is in the stub used for geteuid. Under some circumstances, programs that rely on the geteuid system call may fail to properly identify the users effective userid. This could result in conditions that may allow a local user to gain elevated privileges.
